The high-level recommendations from the group are: Address the cost and time of education. NPAG supports a defined progression to modernize CPA licensure requirements on education. More formalized support options should also be expanded to encourage students to stick with accounting programs.

If you’re a high school student and future accounting major hoping to receive your undergraduate education from a friendly chatbot, we’re sorry to say that won’t be happening any time soon. There were ten questions for the Introductory Financial Accounting and 10 for the Advanced Financial Accounting course units.

Because CPA candidates must complete 150 semester credit hours of education—30 credits beyond the typical 120 credit hours earned in a four-year undergraduate degree— many CPAs end up spending five years in college instead of four. We want to be clear that we very much value education.
