In a related blog post, I shared the how-to’s of my Smart Review for reviewing my clients’ books in about 15 minutes. To visit that post, click here, and if you haven’t already done so, sign up for the free Smart Review Checklist. Once you have the free checklist, follow this 3 step process for getting bookkeeping clients.

My 3 step process for using my Smart Review System to go from a free review to a paying client:

#1: Perform a Smart Review

Use the Smart Review System to do a complimentary 15-minute review of QuickBooks for a prospect or an existing client you’re not yet doing books for (maybe a DIY training or coaching client).

#2: Share your recommendations

As you go through the Smart Review with your client, you can point out red flag areas that could indicate a problem (you’ll see what these are in the Smart Review Checklist). This will either be something that needs to be fixed or something that requires a more in-depth review of the books to diagnose and correct.

#3: Offer solutions

Based on what you find in your review, let them know the next logical step and provide your pricing to take care of it for them. I typically go with a more in-depth, paid diagnostic review so I can identify problems in detail and get a scope of the clean-up or catch up work needed. From there, I can quote an accurate price for the clean-up work.
