Braintree, Massachusetts – Paul McGovern, CPA, and James M. Downey, CPA, of Downey & Company, LLP, an accounting and business consulting firm, recently returned from the Fall Meeting of the National Alliance of Auto Dealer Advisors in Nashville, Tennessee. Downey & Company is the only accounting practice in the state and one of only 11 practices in the nation selected as a member of the prestigious group.

Seventeen partners, representing 11 accounting practices located throughout the United States, attended the one-and-a-half-day meeting. Attendance at the Continuing Professional Education Program was by invitation only and focused on meeting the challenges of continued innovation to improve client service and run an accounting and business consulting firm dedicated to the automotive industry.

The sessions also provided attendees the opportunity to discuss current issues affecting auto dealerships as well as develop ties to similar accounting and tax experts in other areas of the country. “By linking our firm to others, we have been able to offer our clients increased benefit without the expensive overhead cost often associated with national firms,” said Mr. McGovern. Member firms share their knowledge through the open discussion forums within the conference.

National Alliance of Auto Dealer Advisors was created to provide leading accounting and consulting firms specializing in working with auto dealers with a unique venue to discuss issues affecting the profitability of auto dealers. These firms collectively represent more than a thousand car dealerships and related entities, and as a group, are recognized throughout the profession as leaders in identifying problems and creating solutions to ensure the success of auto dealers throughout the nation. Admission to this group was determined by a panel of leading business professionals and establishes its members as one of the nation’s finest business advisory firms to the auto dealer owner. Members are recognized for their leading research and scholarship demonstrated through written works and their dedication to intellectual thinking that provides greater insight and understanding to the commerce of this country.

At the business meeting, Mr. McGovern was named Chairman of the Executive Committee, which is responsible for the strategic planning of the organization.

Downey & Company was formed in 1984 and has been serving closely-held businesses and their owners with specialized services to increase their profitability. The partners are members of the AICPA, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Quincy Chamber of Commerce.
