Dick's Sporting Goods To Offer Black Friday Deals Over 10 Days

Dick’s Sporting Goods will provide its Black Friday promotions over 10 days instead of only one day, to aid in ensuring a safe shopping experience during the holiday season, according to an announcement.

The retailer’s inaugural “10 Days of Black Friday” will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 18, with promotions in stores and online running up to the end of Saturday, Nov. 28.

Dick’s has hired additional workers to fulfill curbside pickup and ship-from-store orders.

“For the first time, we are extending our deals and making it easier than ever for our customers to get the best gifts for everyone on their list, with flexible pickup and fast shipping to help them alleviate unwanted stress and large crowds,” Dick’s Sporting Goods President Lauren Hobart said in the announcement.

The retailer has also launched in-depth plans to handle lines at its 800+ retail locations throughout the country.

Safety measures put into place at all Dick’s Sporting Goods, Field & Stream and Golf Galaxy stores in March will be expanded over the holiday season. Most of those locations will provide longer shopping hours. However, the firm’s retail locations and distribution hubs will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Dick’s reported on Aug. 26 that its online shopping sales surged 194 percent in Q2, including curbside contactless pickup, in contrast to Q2 2019. The firm also said that consolidated same-store sales increased 20.7 percent, even though approximately 15 percent of its retail locations were closed.

“We had an exceptionally strong Q2 in which we delivered our highest-ever quarterly sales and earnings,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward W. Stack said in a previous announcement.

Dick’s had reported $281.7 million in consolidated net income ($3.21 per diluted share) on a non-GAAP basis on approximately $2.71 billion in net sales.
