Platform launches wealth management

Platform Advisors, the professional services arm of Platform Accounting Group, has launched Platform Wealth Advisors, a national wealth management advisory practice.

The launch follows Platform's acquisition of Goleta, California-based Walpole Financial Advisors, a CPA-led wealth management firm, and is aimed at better serving Platform's current tax and accounting clients.

"Platform shares our financial philosophy and approach to building long-term relationships," said Kirk Stovesand, partner and founder of Walpole Financial Advisors, in a statement. He will now lead the Platform Wealth Advisors team. "With the increasingly complex world of regulation, compliance and portfolio management, being able to join with a variety of experts and specialties, and gain access to cutting-edge technology and resources, means we can better serve our clients and spread our wealth strategy to more people."

Utah-based Platform Accounting Group acquires boutique accounting and professional services firms, which are locally branded but supported with resources and access to specialized expertise in areas like HR, managed IT, internal accounting and finance, and more. In February, it raised $85 million in funding, part of which was explicitly earmarked for adding extra services such as wealth management.

Earlier this year, Platform acquired three firms in Oregon — James L. Shook CPA, PC, Bjorklund & Montplaisir CPAs, and Parsons and Germer CPAs LLP — and in 2023, it acquired and rebranded several firms in California, including Alpert & King, R.O.A.D., JHS, and Hamilton & Co.
