Aprio Merges in Texas Accounting Firm Ridout Barrett & Co.

Aprio has gained more than 50 partners and professionals from RBC, which has offices in San Antonio and Austin.

Top 30 accounting firm Aprio has expanded into Texas after merging with San Antonio-based Ridout Barrett & Co. CPAs & Advisors (RBC).

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Aprio has gained more than 50 partners and professionals from RBC, which also has an office in Austin.

Founded in 1986, RBC has deep experience providing accounting and business consulting services to its clients, especially those in the construction and real estate industries.

Melanie Geist

“We are thrilled about this strategic combination,” Melanie Geist, managing partner at RBC, said in a statement. “Aprio and RBC have shared a complementary focus on investing in culture and talent to create a better team and client experience. We will leverage this new partnership to provide our clients with more tools to realize their goals. RBC clients will benefit from our broadened strengths and capabilities across many industries, especially construction and government contracting, that are facing shifting market dynamics and our eagerness to anticipate what’s next.”

Geist is now an office leader and a tax partner with Aprio.

The merger allows Aprio to provide more support to clients in manufacturing, technology, and government contracting while growing its offerings to include business advisory, high-net-worth, and wealth management services.

Richard Kopelman

“This merger doubles the size of our firm-wide construction practice and aligns two firms with successful histories, deep industry expertise, and shared values, giving us the opportunity to expand services to clients and provide meaningful career opportunities for our team members,” said Aprio CEO and Managing Partner Richard Kopelman.

Rob Smithson of Corporate Investment in Austin represented RBC in the merger process.
