New York State Society of CPAs Announces New Chief Operating Officer

Williams has over 28 years of executive-level experience working in association management.

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) has announced that Amy Williams, CAE, MPA, IOM, will serve as the 126-year-old organization’s next chief operating officer.  

Williams has over 28 years of executive-level experience working in association management. During her career, she has served as a chief staff executive for numerous clients of a large Association Management Company, which include the Society of Information Management, the Product Development and Management Association, the Society for Food Service Management and the American Association for Aerosol Research. 

In her most recent role, Williams led in a consulting capacity, empowering several associations with strategic guidance, effective governance, volunteer development and operational excellence.  

Williams’ educational achievements further attest to her dedication and passion for association management. She holds a B.A. in political science from Messiah University and a master’s degree in public administration from Pennsylvania State University. Additionally, she has earned the esteemed distinction of being a certified association executive (CAE) and has successfully completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organization Management (IOM) program. 

Williams is an active volunteer and contributor within the association profession. She proudly served as a volunteer president of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE) and regularly presents at their annual meetings. Currently, she is a member of the ASAE Research Foundation Research Committee and the ASAE Diversity and Inclusion Committee. 

NYSSCPA Chief Executive Officer Calvin Harris Jr. informed staff members and other NYSSCPA stakeholders that Williams would begin her tenure on July 24, 2023. During his announcement, he stated, “Amy has extensive nonprofit and association management experience, and is a passionate leader in the diversity, equity and inclusion space. We are lucky to welcome Amy to her new home at the Society, and I look forward to her much-needed breath of fresh air and creative new ideas.” 

Williams is currently a resident of Manahawkin, New Jersey.
