Honkamp Merges in St. Louis CPA Firm Schowalter & Jabouri
The new location will be the top 200 accounting firm's first in Missouri, adding to its other offices in Iowa and Wisconsin.

Top 200 accounting firm Honkamp recently added one of the 20 largest CPA firms in the St. Louis metro area to its team.
The Dubuque, IA-based firm merged with Schowalter & Jabouri on Dec. 2. The new location will be the first office in Missouri for Honkamp, and the merger increases the firm’s headcount to about 300 employees. In addition to St. Louis, Honkamp has eight offices in Iowa and Wisconsin.
“This merger represents another step in Honkamp’s growth, and we are thrilled to welcome a firm with such established roots in an exciting new market for us,” Honkamp President and CEO Katie Thomas said in a statement. “We are excited to announce this expansion, which will enable us to extend world-class service and groundbreaking solutions to an even broader spectrum of clients.”
Founded in 1976, Schowalter & Jabouri is a full-service attest, tax, and business advisory firm in St. Louis with more than 30 employees, all of whom are being retained. They will continue to serve their current clients out of their St. Louis office.

This marks Honkamp’s fourth acquisition in two years. Honkamp added Nigl Accounting, based in Oshkosh, WI, in December 2021. In November 2022, Honkamp acquired Vaassen, Pluemer CPAs in Platteville, WI, and the Cedar Falls, IA office of Gosling & Co.
