BPM merges in Elliott CPA Group

BPM LLP, a Top 50 Firm based in San Francisco, is extending its footprint in the North Bay area of California by adding Elliott CPA Group, headquartered in Santa Rosa, effective July 1.

Elliott CPA Group was founded in 2006 and is led by Erin Roche and James Elliott. The firm specializes in providing financial and tax planning to clients in various industries, including wine and agriculture, real estate, retail and manufacturing.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. BPM, formerly known as Burr Pilger Mayer, ranked No. 38 on Accounting Today’s 2022 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $166.3 million in annual revenue. Elliott had 10 employees, including eight staff members and two partners who will be joining BPM, which has more than 900 employees.

“BPM has long been a part of the North Bay, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Elliott team,” said BPM CEO Jim Wallace in a statement Wednesday. “This strategic combination will allow us to broaden and deepen our relationships within the community.”

Elliott Group will rebrand under the BPM name. The growing Santa Rosa office will join BPM’s existing locations across California, Oregon, Washington, India and other parts of the world.

“Businesses need sophisticated financial services — whether they’re in traditional industries, like agriculture, or they’re developing breakthrough technologies,” said Elliott in a statement. “This combination helps ensure that both our clients and our team members have access to a wealth of resources and truly exceptional service experiences. BPM is deeply committed to the local community, which is consistent with our 16-year history of giving back to the North Bay. Our values and their values align — that’s a win.”

This is the fourth combination for BPM since 2020. The firm’s Southern California expansion has included teams from Orange County, Long Beach and, most recently, Santa Monica. Last summer, in probably its biggest deal, BPM merged in Gumbiner Savett, which was based in Santa Monica. In 2020, BPM added Rossi LLP, a firm in Long Beach, California, NetSuite reseller Caravel Partners and Warnick, Maestas & Maroney, a firm in Irvine, California.

“We continue to lead with our brand promise of putting people first,” said BPM North Bay partner-in-charge Michelle Muth Ausburn in a statement. “The combination with Elliott complements and strengthens our existing service offerings and team, and allows us to better serve our clients in and around the North Bay.”
