Melanie Lauridsen Named as New VP, Tax Policy & Advocacy for AICPA & CIMA

Lauridsen will represent the Association’s interests in legislative and regulatory based tax advocacy efforts, building on the foundation of her predecessor, Edward Karl.

The American Institute of CPAs & Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, have named Melanie Lauridsen as the new Vice President for Tax Policy & Advocacy, leading the Association’s important tax advocacy mission, effective August 1, 2023.

Lauridsen will represent the Association’s interests in legislative and regulatory based tax advocacy efforts, building on the foundation of her predecessor, Edward Karl. In this role, she will lead and implement strategic initiatives around technical and policy recommendations for improvement of the federal tax process. She will also be a principal liaison for the Association with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department.

Lauridsen joined the organization in 2011 as a Manager of Tax Policy & Advocacy and managed the AICPA’s IRS Advocacy Relations Committee for 10 years. She previously served as Director, Tax Practice & Ethics.

team’s increased success under her leadership,” said Association Executive Vice President for Advocacy, Mark Peterson. “I believe Melanie’s extensive experience will drive the Association’s tax advocacy efforts to greater heights and increase our influence among tax-governing agencies and the profession.”
