Deloitte Ousts PwC at the Top of Vault’s 2024 Prestige List
This is the second time Deloitte has finished atop Vault’s prestige ranking, taking the title in 2009 as well.

While PwC continues to lead Vault’s ranking of the best accounting firms to work for, it no longer holds the title of “most prestigious accounting firm.” That now belongs to Deloitte.
Vault, which provides career resources and advice to students and job seekers, just came out with its 18th annual ranking of accounting firms based solely on prestige. Of the previous 17 prestige rankings, PwC has been number one 15 times, including the last 14 years in a row. But in Vault’s 2024 prestige ranking, Deloitte knocked PwC out of the top spot with a score of 8.793 compared to PwC’s 8.784. Rounding out the top five were the other two Big Four firms, EY and KPMG, and Grant Thornton.
This is the second time Deloitte has finished atop Vault’s prestige ranking, taking the title in 2009 as well. The only other firm besides PwC and Deloitte to be named “most prestigious” was EY in 2007.
For its ranking, Vault asked more than 11,000 accounting professionals to complete a survey that consisted of questions about life at the accountant’s firm (or former firm) and a prestige rating. Survey participants were asked to rate firms other than their own on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most prestigious. Participants were asked only to rate firms with which they were familiar and were not permitted to rate their own (or former) firm. Vault then averaged the prestige scores for each firm and ranked them in order.
Based on the results of the survey, here are Vault’s 50 most prestigious accounting firms for 2024:
