Withum held its annual State of the Firm on Jan. 9 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, which also kicked off the yearlong celebration for its 50th anniversary, which is officially March 21, 2024. In other firm news, Nina Chmura, partner and market leader of outsourced accounting systems and services, began the OASyS Intro to Accounting Day, which introduces local high school students to the firm and the accounting profession by welcoming them to the Red Bank office where they are given a tour complete with breakfast and a Q&A session.

Nina Bahazhevska, Mathew Giordano, Gina Perrone, Jeremy Rhen and Eric Seidman were promoted to partner at Sax, Parsippany. 

Dan Fiorentino was appointed the next managing shareholder at Wilkin & Guttenplan, East Brunswick, succeeding co-founder Ed Guttenplan who served in the role for 40 years and will remain an integral member of the leadership team. Fiorentino has been with the firm since 2006 following an internship in 2005.

NEW YORK

Donna Raper assumed her role as regional director of the Americas region at BKR International, New York. 

Katrina Helmkamp, a retired global CEO, and Harit Talwar, former founder/head and then chairman of Marcus by Goldman Sachs, were appointed as independent directors to the U.S. board of directors at KPMG, New York, succeeding Linda Addison and Janet Wolfenbarger, independent directors who recently completed five-year terms of service. In other firm news, KPMG announced its sponsorship of the Armory HBCU Showcase, aimed at bringing together top track and field programs from dozens of Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country, taking place Jan. 13 in New York City and to be livestreamed on Peacock, with KPMG chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer Elena Richards giving the opening remarks. The KPMG US Foundation has also provided a grant of $225,000 to be disbursed over three years to the Armory College Prep Middle School program, which focuses on academic enrichment and assistance with high school planning and applications.

CohnReznick, New York, earned a top score of 100 out of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2023-24 Corporate Equality Index, the national benchmarking tool measuring policies, practices, and benefits pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) employees.

NORTH CAROLINA

Greg Wilder was appointed the new chief executive officer at the North Carolina Association of CPAs, effective Feb. 19. Wilder most recently served as chief operating officer for the Georgia Society of CPAs for the past 11 years.
