Nominations are underway for Insightful Accountant’s 2023 Top 100 ProAdvisors, ProAdvisor of the Year and the related Categorical ProAdvisor Awards.
Effective February 3, 2023, nominations are also being accepted for the new Up-n-Coming ProAdvisors and Top Up-n-Coming ProAdvisor for 2023. See this article for more information.
Each year, we receive a few questions about the nomination form. This year, with the change in survey tools we are using, we have also received some questions about the new form. So, we thought we'd try to answer those collectively, while at the same time encouraging you to go ahead and get your nomination forms turned in.
Please remember there are just two purposes for our nomination form:
- A ProAdvisor nominating another ProAdvisor for these awards
- ProAdvisors nominating themselves for these awards
It is just as appropriate for ProAdvisors to nominate themselves as it is for them to be nominated by someone else. In fact, each year, we find that more than 50% of all our nominations are self-nominations.
Our form is designed to deal with both nomination types.
Page 1 of the form (top half, shown below) was designed to collect information from the ProAdvisor providing a nomination for another ProAdvisor.
We recognized we could do some "pre-screening" if a ProAdvisor was nominating themselves rather than another ProAdvisor, which is why some additional questions were added to the bottom of Page 1 (as shown below).
Regardless, Page 1 always asks about the individual completing the form—whether they are nominating themselves or another ProAdvisor.
At the very bottom of Page 1, they elect whether it is a self-nomination or a nomination of another.
If they are not nominating another ProAdvisor, the survey continues to the final page of the process, which consists of several sponsor-related questions and final instructions.
If they are nominating another ProAdvisor, a new page opens (like the one below) asking them to provide "Nominee Information." This includes contact information they should either have or be able to get from the individual’s Find-a-ProAdvisor listing, and two additional questions.
The first of these extra questions asks if the nominee is a ProAdvisor in the US or a foreign country. The second asks if the nominee has an active QuickBooks practice. Both questions should be easy to answer for someone knowing the ProAdvisor they are nominating well enough to recommend them for these prestigious awards.
When this Nominee page is completed, the Sponsor inquiry page will open, and the nomination survey is nearly complete.
If there is any confusion over the new form to date, or the format of the nomination survey, do not hesitate to take a few moments to complete a new nomination form for either yourself or a fellow ProAdvisor you wish to nominate.
Now, let me stress the issue of not waiting to be nominated by someone else.
Each year, after nominations close, I begin receiving phone calls and emails giving me sob stories about "so-and-so promised he/she would nominate me if I'd nominate them." Next, they tell me the other person forgot to do it. So, then they as if there is any way they can still submit a nomination?
Sorry Charlie, Jane, Jeff, Jillian or whomever, nominations have closed, and you're out of luck.
As the cliches go: The "clock has struck midnight" and the "glass slipper has turned into a pumpkin." That means I get to be the rat who says you have to wait till next year because you should have nominated yourself rather than wait for old “so-and-so.”
Please don’t make me out to be the rat.
You cannot win an award unless you participate, and you cannot participate if you are not nominated. The system is rigged that way. But, you can turn the odds in your favor and nominate yourself.
I guarantee, if you do, your nomination will not be left behind come midnight. You will be in the running from the start.
Without that nomination, your tires are flat before the race ever gets underway.
So, get that Nomination Form completed because “We need ProAdvisors like you in our Top 100.”
Nominations are also being accepted for the new Up-n-Coming ProAdvisors and Top Up-n-Coming ProAdvisor for 2023, effective February 3, 2023.
Effective February 3, 2023, Insightful Accountant has extended the 2023 Nomination period until March 1, 2023, at 11:59:59 PM (Pacific time).
