Ed Mendlowitz Named NJBIZ ICON

Withum is proud to share that NJBIZ named Ed Mendlowitz as a 2023 ICON Honoree. The publication recognized Ed for his outstanding contributions to the state of New Jersey in the accounting industry and business community and his dedication to lifelong mentorship and education.

Ed is an Emeritus Partner with over 40 years of experience in the accounting industry. He is an expert in business valuations, succession planning, forensic accounting, and investigation. At Withum, Ed mentors team members who are just starting their careers to those who are tenured and looking to take their careers to the next level. He assists them with professional development, confidence coaching, personal branding, or simply sharing more about a career in public accounting.

He has mentored over 25 Partners at the Firm and advocated for the Firm’s team member shadowing program. Ed’s reputation proceeds him. He now mentors accounting and professional service practitioners worldwide, including Portugal, India, and Israel, assisting with practice management assistance and personal mentoring.

Ed’s commitment to the profession and passion for seeing others succeed is invigorating and notable. He has demonstrated a commitment to the NJ business community for over 50 years as an entrepreneur, business advisor, teacher, mentor, and overall economic driver. In 1976, he became a frequent adjunct Professor for Fairleigh Dickinson University’s MBA and MS/Accounting programs. In 2021, he became an adjunct lecturer at Baruch College, teaching Principles of Accounting and Intermediate Accounting and, most recently, a graduate seminar on Managing Accounting Practices. Ed has also been a guest lecturer at Montclair State University and Seton Hall University.

He is a sought-after thought leader in the accounting industry and the greater New Jersey business community. He has authored over 30 industry books and published hundreds of articles for business and professional journals, newsletters, and blogs, including Withum’s Partners’ Network Blog. He is a contributing author to Accounting Today. The publication has recognized Ed on its Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting list for the past eight consecutive years. Additionally, Ed has written and distributed over 350 continuing education courses, a practice management checklist, and a practice continuation tool kit for sole practitioners, distributed to over 20,000 colleagues.
