Valeria Strappa New Chase Merchant Services CAO

Chase Merchant Services, the global payment acceptance and merchant acquiring business division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., just recently announced that veteran financial services executive Valeria Strappa has been named the new chief administrative officer.

Matt Kane, CEO of Chase Merchant Services, said in a press release: “Val will be exceptional in helping lead our global and growing business, with her professional experiences, international background, and competitive spirit.”

Previously, Strappa was client management and strategy Head for Institutional Clients Group at Citi Latin America. She comes to Chase Merchant Services with background experience in retail and mortgage business management, consulting, strategy, lean manufacturing, operations, transformation and change management. Prior, Strappa has held positions at GE Capital and McKinsey.

Chase Merchant Services is a leading provider of payment, fraud management and data security solutions capable of authorizing transactions in more than 130 currencies. JPMorgan Chase reportedly passed $1 trillion in merchant processing volume in 2016.

Last month, JPMorgan & Chase Co. announced a partnership with Intuit that will allow Chase customers to easily load their account data into Mint, TurboTax Online and QuickBooks Online financial management applications. These uploads can be done without turning over banks’ usernames or passwords. Chase customers get an option to explicitly consent to share data with Intuit, and the bank will provide Intuit with a unique data token to limit useful access to the data.

Chase serves nearly half of America’s households with a broad range of financial services at 5,300 branches, 15,500 ATMs, by mobile, online, and by phone. The firm has assets totaling some $2.5 trillion and features operations worldwide.

Chase announced earlier this month that customers will soon be able to use Chase Pay in the nearly 2,000 HMSHost restaurant locations worldwide, as well as with Parkmobile, which enables users to pay for parking in cities via mobile app.
