What steps are in the value chain for vegetables grown and sold by Dussel Farm?

Dussel Farm Feed Store is a family owned and operated farm and store that has been in the Dussel family since 1948. It grows and sells a wide variety of produce, including vegetables and fruits. In addition to the produce, Dussel operates a feed store.

Each year, it plants a variety of vegetables, such as tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, zucchini, and squash. . 

Dussel farm workers plant a variety of vegetables throughout the spring as the planting calendar indicates. Throughout the summer, the vegetable fields are watered, fertilized, weeded, and otherwise tended. The vegetables are harvested throughout the summer into early fall.

The vegetables are sold through a booth located on the farm, at local farmers’ markets, and to several restaurants in the area.

Growing season will end in late fall due to weather and will start again in the late spring. During the offseason, its owners and workers are researching new potential produce varieties, learning about new organic pesticides and fertilizers, preparing the fields for planting, planting, and other farming support activities.
