On the move: MACPA elects a new chair

KPMG partner Christina Aspell will lead the Maryland Association of CPAs' board; Dean Dorton consolidates in Raleigh; BPM dives further into carbon accounting; and other firm and personnel news from around the accounting profession.

CALIFORNIA

BPM, San Francisco, announced a strategic alliance with Sustain.Life to expand BPM's offerings in carbon accounting and enable clients to measure, manage and report their organization's carbon emissions effectively.

J. Michael Peppers was named the new representative to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission Board of Directors by the Institute of Internal Auditors, Lake Mary.

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, Bethesda, named three new partners: Angela Prochaska, director in tax services; Mark Thomas; and Jordan Egert, director, divorce and litigation services.

Christine Aspell, managing partner and audit partner in the Baltimore office of KPMG, has been elected chair of the 2023-24 Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of CPAs, succeeding UHY LLP partner Herbert Geary. Aspell has been a MACPA member since 1991.

The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants marked its sixtieth anniversary by naming eight Distinguished Lifetime Members: Boon Swan Foo, Willie Cheng, Bobby Chin, Gerard Ee, Fang Ai Lian, Grace Fu, Euleen Goh, and Michael Lim Choo San. In addition, Lim Hwee Hua and Chaly Mah received the ISCA Special Appreciation Award for their contributions to the accounting profession in Singapore, and Indranee Rajah was made an honorary member of ISCA for her contributions to the accountancy sector and wider business community. Launched in 1963, the institute has grown from 11 founding members to more than 33,000 members.
