Withum Winter Interns Volunteer 166 Hours From Coast to Coast

This month, as a part of Withum’s mission to instill volunteerism and philanthropy in emerging professionals, winter interns took to their communities to participate in give-back efforts for a variety of organizations.

In East Brunswick, New Jersey, a small group of interns and staff members went to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) to prepare special gluten-free meals for families of children in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Eryn Sabbagh, a Tax Intern, is no stranger to RMH, having previously served the nonprofit with her sorority.

I loved volunteering in college. It’s hard to keep it up once you graduate. That’s why I really appreciate the opportunity from Withum to get back to being active in the community.

Withum’s Boca Raton Tax intern, Noah Tellez, was also able to participate in the give-back event. Noah, along with his supervisor, went to The Fruitful Field, a community-based urban, organic garden whose mission is to end food insecurity in South Florida through sustainable methods.

Noah and Griffin harvested crops and tended the community garden. “We were able to interact with customers who raved about the vegetables,” said Noah. “I felt proud to have been able to help make an impact on the Pompano community. I’m already looking forward to the next time I can go out to TFF.”

Both Eryn and Noah are working toward completing their second internship at Withum. They share a similar story—having started as undergraduate interns at the Firm and returning as they study at their respective universities at the Master’s level. Withum’s internship program is one way the Firm demonstrates its commitment to working with young professionals and students to design opportunities for them to experience The Withum Way.

Interns in 11 offices participated in the event. In addition to RMH and TFF, the volunteers also supported New York Cares, the Malden Warming Center in Massachusetts and Boys & Girls Clubs of America chapters in California, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
