Top 200 accounting firm ATA CPAs + Advisors has expanded its presence in western Tennessee after combining with Memphis-based Whitehorn Tankersley & Davis PLLC on Jan. With this merger, ATA now has 240 employees and 16 locations across four states—Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Mississippi.

The American Institute of CPAs has announced the 50 winners of the 2022 Elijah Watt Sells Award. This award is granted to CPA candidates who obtain a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination, pass all four sections on their first attempt and have completed testing in 2022.

Entry-level CPAs in advisory practices are making $11,000 more than CPAs starting out in audit and tax, and $20,000 more than non-CPAs in advisory. The report says CPAs are generally paid more than non-CPAs, but the pay gap between the two shrinks when moving from entry-level to the manager level.
