The 2% statewide sales tax proposed would be on top of any local taxes and would not exempt groceries, medicine or other items that have been exempted in previous sales tax bills. Mike Dunleavy has said he’d support an Alaska state sales tax. Under the statute, a provider of software-as-a-service acts as a serviceman.
